To recap, back in March of this year, Google Ads launched a tool called “Solutions” that enabled marketers, publishers, and advertisers to quickly generate reports that reveal various aspects of campaign performance.
To quote Google, “Solutions help you create automated and customised workflows without making changes to the code”. This makes the tool accessible for advertisers of varying technical expertise.
Key features of Solutions include:
- Various customisation options for generating reports, i.e. the ability to filter data by campaign, ad group, keyword, and other specific dimensions.
- The ability to set flexible advertising budgets.
- Managing negative keywords.
- Sorting data by any metric.
- Exporting reports to variety formats such as CSV and XLSX.
According to Google, types of Solutions offered encompass:
- Account summary: You can generate a comprehensive report of both your Google ads and account performance.
- Ad performance: View various aspects of your ad performance by generating a Google Spreadsheet with individual distribution charts for each aspect.
- Account anomaly detector: Automatically receive email alerts each time there’s a dip in campaign performance.
- Link checker: Mitigate “page not found” errors by checking for errors in URLs and keywords.
- Flexible budgets: Adjust campaign budgets on a daily basis with custom distribution schemes.
- Common negative list: Manage negative keywords across a range of campaigns.
While the Solutions tools proved to be highly beneficial back then, Google is now testing a new tool that enables publishers to utilise artificial intelligence (AI) to generate reports.
AI Generated Reports… BETA
With all things AI having taken the world by storm, Google has officially hopped on the bandwagon as well with a string of brand-new AI-powered solutions. From Google Search Ads to Performance Max campaigns, Shopping ads and Display ads, the integration of AI tools help advertisers provide personalised recommendations and introduce immersive shopping experiences for target audiences.
AI ad creation tools have now been built into the Google ads platform to assist advertisers in both image and text generation. For instance, within Product Studio, brands are able to swiftly generate images that instantly match brand style and guidelines.
It’s as simple as uploading a reference image, typing in a prompt, and waiting for Product Studio to do its magic, i.e. craft content that’s campaign ready. For the full list of new and upcoming features, check out Google’s Marketing Live 2024 report.
Now, to further revolutionise its AI capabilities, Google Ads is testing an AI-driven report generation tool. It’s similar to the report generation feature within Solutions but instead of manual selection, the new AI-driven tool allows users to generate a report just by typing in a query in English.
Google Ads will then produce the desired report. It’s really that simple. To illustrate, you could ask “What are my top campaigns this month” and the system would compile all relevant data and prepare a detailed report for you to view and analyse.
Why Does This Matter
First, the new Beta feature streamlines everyday tasks. Marketers no longer need to spend time manually creating reports.
Second, the feature is easy to use. All you have to do is type in a simple request and based on the data you have, a report is instantly generated.
Third, if you require specific insights into your campaign performance, you’ll be able to quickly access that by just prompting Google.
The rollout of this tool signifies a move towards the introduction of AI-integrated tools within the realm of digital marketing. Google is yet to announce when this feature will be made widely available, but at present, several advertisers have gained access to a beta version.
