Outdated website, missed leads or a back end nobody wants to touch?
Most businesses do not need more pages. They need a website that does its job. These are the problems we fix most often.
Leads — traffic arrives, enquiries do not. Visitors land, scroll and leave because the page never tells them what to do next or why they should trust you.
Speed — a site that feels slow on a phone. Heavy themes, stacked plugins and oversized images push load times up, and mobile visitors give up before the page appears.
Editing — every small change needs a developer. Updating a price, a team photo or a landing page turns into a ticket, a quote and a two week wait.
Search — a redesign that wiped out rankings. New URLs with no redirects, missing titles and lost content can undo years of organic traffic overnight.
What a web development company does.
A web development company turns a business goal into a working website: it plans the structure, designs the pages, writes the code, connects the systems behind it and keeps it running after launch. Design decides how the site looks and feels. Development decides how it works, how fast it loads and how easily search engines and your team can use it.
We have been designing and building websites since 2006. Most of our projects are one of three kinds: a new website for a growing business, a redesign or rebuild of a site that has stopped performing, or an online store that needs to sell more. If you are comparing options, our web design and development page covers the design side in more depth.
We work across the main content management and ecommerce platforms and choose the one that fits your business, not the one we prefer to build on:
- WordPress development for content-led and service businesses
- Shopify development for brands that want to launch and scale an online store quickly
- BigCommerce development for growing retailers with larger catalogues
- Magento development for complex, high volume ecommerce
- Custom PHP development for portals, integrations and features no platform offers out of the box

Built right from the first line of code.
The difference between a website that looks good in a presentation and one that performs for years is decided in how it is built.
Accessible by design
Colour contrast, heading order, keyboard navigation, alt text and form labels are part of the design and the test plan, so the site works for more people and meets the accessibility guidelines your sector expects.
Fast by default
Lean templates, compressed images, lazy loading and careful use of third party scripts. If an existing site is the problem, our website speed optimisation work starts with the pages that earn the most.
Search ready at launch
Clean URLs, semantic HTML, schema markup, XML sitemaps, canonical tags and redirects are in the build, not bolted on later. When you want ongoing growth, our SEO team works from the same codebase.
Secure development
Least privilege admin access, maintained plugins and extensions only, secure form handling, regular backups and updates tested on staging before they reach your live site.
Editable without a developer
Modular page sections, sensible content types and a short training session mean your marketing team can publish without waiting on us.
Support that sticks around
A post launch support window, then optional website maintenance covering updates, backups, monitoring and small changes, so the site stays fast and secure.

How websites sell, not just how they look.
Most websites are built by people who think about how they look. This one is about how they sell: the funnel, the proposition, and the landing page, in the order you should work on them.

Web development FAQs.
Straight answers to the questions we are asked most before a project starts.
What does a web development company do?
A web development company plans, designs, builds and maintains websites and web applications. That covers the structure and user experience, the visual design, the code and content management system, integrations with other business systems, testing, launch and ongoing support.
What is the difference between web design and web development?
Web design is how the site looks and how people move through it: layout, typography, colour, navigation and calls to action. Web development is how it works: the code, the CMS, integrations, speed, security and search engine readiness. We do both in one team, so the design is built as intended and nothing is lost in a handover.
How long does it take to build a website?
Most projects take 6 to 12 weeks from signed scope to launch. A simple brochure site can be ready in about 4 weeks. Large ecommerce builds, custom features or big content migrations take 12 to 16 weeks. We agree the timeline at the start and report progress weekly.
Which platform should my website be built on?
It depends on what the site has to do. WordPress suits most content-led and service businesses. Shopify suits brands that want to launch an online store quickly and scale it. BigCommerce suits growing retailers with larger catalogues, and Magento suits complex, high volume ecommerce. When no platform fits, we build custom in PHP. We recommend the platform that fits your business, not the one we prefer to build on.
Should I redesign my existing website or rebuild it?
If the platform is sound and the problem is how the site looks or converts, a redesign on the same platform is usually enough. If the site is slow at its core, hard to edit, insecure or on a platform you have outgrown, a rebuild is the better investment. We audit the current site first and tell you which one you need.
Will a new website hurt my Google rankings?
It can if it is handled badly, and it should not if it is handled well. We map every existing URL to its new address with 301 redirects, keep the content and metadata that ranks, and monitor indexing and traffic in Search Console after launch so any issue is fixed quickly.
Will I be able to update the website myself?
Yes. We build with reusable page sections and a clear editing interface, then run a training session with your team. Most clients update text, images, products and landing pages without needing us.
Is the website accessible and mobile friendly?
Yes. Every site is designed mobile first and tested on real devices and browsers. Accessibility is part of the design and testing, including colour contrast, heading structure, keyboard navigation, alt text and form labels.
Who owns the website when it is finished?
You do. The domain, content, design and site files belong to you, and you receive full admin access. If you ever move to another provider, you take everything with you.
What happens after the website launches?
Every project includes a post launch support window in which we fix any bugs at no extra charge. After that, you can choose an ongoing maintenance plan covering updates, backups, monitoring and small changes, or look after the site yourself.
