Google AI Mode adds direct booking links for US home services

Google has started linking home service searches in AI Mode straight to booking and quote pages on partner platforms, naming Jobber, Housecall Pro, Angi and Thumbtack. Robby Stein, Google's Search Product VP, announced the partner links on X on Wednesday 4 November and said they are available now in the US, with ServiceTitan listed as coming soon. Stein's wording was "partners like" those four, so the list is not presented as closed.

For a plumber or cleaning company, the route in is the software or marketplace it already uses to run jobs. Nothing is live in Australia yet, so the useful move for a local trade is to find out whether its own platform is on the list and whether its Google Business Profile would pass the matching checks.

What do AI Mode booking listings show?

Stein said the aim is to make it "even easier to research & book home services with direct links in AI Mode" through the named partners. In the demo video, a searcher asks for a handyman to come the next day and assemble a bed and a dresser.

AI Mode responds with a list of local handyman services that have online availability, plus other providers who can give a quote. Each listing carries the business's rating and a short description of what it does, and the first listing shows two open appointment times.

The feature follows a plan Google set out at its I/O conference in May: extend its agentic booking experience to more local services, including direct links to finish a booking with the provider, and let users ask Google to call businesses on their behalf for home repair, beauty and pet care. Google said at the time that both would roll out nationwide in the US over the northern summer. Wednesday's post puts names to the partners that handle the home services bookings.

How Jobber businesses qualify for AI Mode

Jobber announced this week that its eligible US customers can be found and booked through AI Mode. Its help page says the business needs an active paid Jobber subscription (trials are excluded). On top of that it lists four setup requirements: the "Help clients find my business" setting turned on in company settings, a complete business address, a Google Business Profile connected to Jobber at the same address, and a request or booking form connected to Google. Jobber connects the default request form to Google automatically.

Once Google matches the profile, a "Book Online" button appears on the Google Business Profile and links directly to the Jobber booking form. Jobber says the match usually happens within a few days.

Bookings and requests from AI Mode land in Jobber like any other online booking, follow the schedule and availability the business has set, and carry no lead fee. Assessment bookings are confirmed automatically unless the business has switched on an approval step that lets it accept or decline each one.

Jobber's help page adds one detail that bears on visibility: businesses that collect client reviews and use a booking form rather than only a request form may be recommended by AI Mode more often. Jobber CEO Sam Pillar said the company wants to help pros show up when customers search with AI "while keeping ownership of the customer relationships they've worked hard to build."

Housecall Pro needs no Google Business Profile

Housecall Pro says all of its users will be able to appear in AI Mode at no extra charge. Its partner page says every pro is enrolled automatically with nothing to set up, available time slots come from the pro's Housecall Pro calendar, and a Google Business Profile is not required.

When a homeowner sends a request, it goes to the selected pro's Housecall Pro inbox. Roland Ligtenberg, the company's co-founder and chief AI officer, described it as "One request, one Pro, no lead fee, no bidding war."

Housecall Pro's messaging is mixed. Its release says the integration is coming soon to eligible US customers, while its partner page says every pro is auto-enrolled and live from day one.

Angi profiles handle AI Mode quote requests

Angi says a homeowner who picks an Angi pro in AI Mode goes straight to that pro's Angi profile, where they can read more and submit a quote request. Thumbtack is on Stein's list, but as of 4 November it had not announced an AI Mode plan of its own.

Jobber and Housecall Pro skip lead fees

The fee terms are where the partner platforms diverge most from Google's own products. In Google's own Local Services Ads, a booking request from a customer counts as a chargeable lead in the US and Canada, according to Google's help page. Jobber and Housecall Pro both say AI Mode bookings carry no lead fee.

Angi sits in between. Its annual report says pros pay fees for consumer matches. Its AI Mode announcement is silent on whether a quote request that begins in AI Mode attracts those fees.

The rollout pattern matches how Google has handled other transactional features this year. Google's Universal Cart launched in the US with no Australian date, and connected apps in AI Mode are live in the US in English only. Home services bookings follow the same US-first path.

Eligible pros can miss AI Mode results

Meeting a partner's requirements does not guarantee a listing. Stein's post does not describe how Google decides which businesses appear in AI Mode for a given search, and Google's help page on checking local availability in AI Mode does not mention partner links at all.

Google has not said whether businesses outside the named partners can get direct booking links in AI Mode, and Stein's "partners like" wording leaves room for the list to grow. The only published hints about what lifts a business's chances of being recommended come from the partners themselves: Jobber's help page points to a booking form and reviews, and Housecall Pro's partner page says AI Mode matches on real-time availability, service area and reviews. Neither comes from Google.

For background on where these answers appear, our guide on AI Mode versus AI Overviews covers the two surfaces and what each means for a site.

Google has given no Australian launch date

Everything above is US only, and Google has given no date for other countries. There is still a short list worth working through before it arrives, because the eligibility rules reward the same things a complete local presence already needs.

  • Check whether your field service software or marketplace is one of the named partners. Jobber, Housecall Pro, Angi and Thumbtack are live or announced, and ServiceTitan is coming soon.
  • If you use Jobber, confirm "Help clients find my business" is switched on, the address in Jobber matches the address on your Google Business Profile, and a booking form rather than only a request form is connected to Google.
  • If you use Housecall Pro, ask the company whether your account qualifies, since its release says the integration is coming soon to eligible US customers.
  • If you are an Angi pro, review your Angi profile, because that is where AI Mode sends homeowners to decide.
  • Keep collecting client reviews. Jobber's help page and Housecall Pro's partner page both name reviews as something that can get a business recommended more often.

Google's help page on checking local availability in AI Mode is the one to watch for any Australian rollout, along with each partner's eligibility page. Until then, the booking form and Business Profile you keep tidy for local SEO are the same assets these integrations rely on.
