Adelaide Link Building Agency
Adelaide link building that earns editorial placements on sites your customers and Google already trust. Adelaide's defence, food and wine sectors are still underinvested online, so a focused authority push can put a local brand ahead of national competitors quickly.
Real Mojo Dojo clients, on the record.
Why a smaller market still needs earned authority.
Adelaide is home to about 1.49 million people and 118,344 small businesses, and 80,353 of those businesses are sole operators. That sounds like an easier search market than the eastern capitals, and for suburb and niche terms it often is. The catch is the city-wide phrase. National brands and interstate providers target it too, and in many categories a few long-standing operators already hold years of press coverage, supplier pages and association listings.
The industries that carry South Australia are also the ones where trust counts most. Defence contractors preparing for submarine construction at Osborne, space and cyber firms at Lot Fourteen, and hospitals, the largest single employer of residents at the last Census, all sell to cautious buyers. For a query about compliance, clinical care or technical capability, one link from an industry body or research partner does more than a dozen generic directory entries.
Search habits here lean towards suburbs. People type Norwood, Glenelg or the northern suburbs rather than the city name, and 63.3% of employed residents drove to work in 2021, which keeps map and "near me" results busy. So we look beyond metro media to council newsletters, community groups and regional sites in growth pockets such as Angle Vale and Mount Barker, where competition for attention is thinner.
Link building sits inside our wider SEO services. We choose the pages that should rank, compare them with the sites above them, and earn editorial links through outreach, digital PR and content worth citing. We do not sell links by the dozen.
Link building in Adelaide: the numbers behind the market.
Four published figures that shape how we plan authority for South Australian businesses.
Industries we help in Adelaide.
How earned links work for the sectors that matter most to the South Australian economy.
Defence and naval shipbuilding
Suppliers bidding into the Osborne programme need credibility with procurement teams. We earn mentions from defence industry associations, trade publications and capability directories with genuine editorial standards.
Space, cyber and critical technologies
Firms around Lot Fourteen chase low-volume, high-value technical queries. Research write-ups, conference talks and university partner pages give those pages authority that a blog alone cannot.
Wine, food and agribusiness
Cellar doors and producers in McLaren Vale, the Barossa and the Hills earn links from wine writers, touring guides and food festivals, timed so coverage lands before vintage and the autumn visitor season.
Health, hospitals and aged care
Clinics and care providers compete for trust as much as rankings. We target health associations, community services and patient resources, and we avoid paid directories that carry risk.
Construction and new estates
Builders and trades working the outer north need links that point at suburb pages. Supplier features, industry awards and local community sites help those pages beat state-wide competitors.
Which Adelaide competitors hold the links you are missing?
In a strategy session we map the referring domains behind the pages that outrank you and show a realistic route to close that gap.
What makes a link worth building.
Not all links help. We check every prospect against the same standards before we pitch it:
- Relevance. The site and the linking page cover a topic close to yours.
- Real audience. The site has genuine readers and visible organic traffic, not just a metric score.
- Editorial placement. The link sits inside useful content and was placed because an editor chose to.
- Indexed and crawlable. The page is in Google's index and the link is a standard link Google can follow.
- Clean neighbourhood. The site does not sell links openly or link out to spam.
- Natural anchor text. Descriptive and varied, never packed with keywords.
Third-party authority scores can help us sort prospects, but we treat them as a filter, not a target. A relevant link on a site your customers read beats a high score on a site nobody visits.
How we earn links.
Six methods, weighted per client. A Tonsley engineering firm and a Glenelg café need very different link profiles.
Digital PR
Data-led stories, expert commentary and campaigns pitched to journalists and editors, earning coverage and links from publications your customers read.
Editorial outreach
Personalised outreach to site owners and editors whose readers would genuinely benefit from your page, with a clear reason to link.
Linkable assets
Research, tools, guides and original data that other sites cite because there is nothing better to point to.
Unlinked mentions and broken links
We find sites that already mention your brand without linking, and dead links that your content can replace, then ask for the link.
Partnerships and industry bodies
Suppliers, associations, sponsors and events that publish member or partner pages, earned through real relationships.
Guest contributions with editorial standards
Expert articles on relevant publications where the link is earned by the quality of the piece, not by a payment.

Scope follows your pages, your competitors and the suburbs or regions you trade in. These are the working parts.
Backlink profile audit. Where your links come from, which are helping, and which carry risk.
Competitor link gap analysis. The sites linking to the pages that outrank you and not to yours.
Target page selection. We prioritise the pages that carry revenue or leads, not just the homepage.
Prospect research. Hand-built lists of relevant sites, checked for traffic, topic fit and real editors.
Linkable asset planning. Ideas for content and data that give sites a reason to link.
Digital PR campaigns. Story angles, media lists and pitching for coverage on relevant publications.
Personalised outreach. Individually written emails and follow-ups, never mass templates.
Anchor text planning. Natural, varied anchors that describe the page instead of stuffing keywords.
Internal linking review. Passing the authority you earn to the pages that need it, working with SEO services.
Link quality checks. Every link reviewed for indexation, placement, attributes and neighbourhood.
Monthly reporting. Links earned, where they point, and the movement in rankings and organic traffic.
Clean-up recommendations. Advice on harmful links, disavow decisions and old paid link schemes.
What link building and content authority delivered for our clients.
Results from three published case studies where earning quality links was part of the strategy.
Links we will not build.
Google's spam policies define link spam as creating links to or from a site primarily to manipulate search rankings. Its examples include buying or selling links for ranking purposes, excessive link exchanges, links made by automated programs, and large-scale guest posting with optimised anchor text. Those tactics can cost a site its rankings, and the damage is slow and expensive to reverse.
We do not use private blog networks, automated link tools, paid links that pass ranking credit, or link exchange schemes. Where a placement involves payment or sponsorship, it is marked with the appropriate rel attribute. If a site already carries links like these, we will tell you plainly and recommend how to deal with them.
This is the trade we make in your favour: fewer links, each one earned and defensible.
The campaign, stage by stage.
Six stages from audit to report. We run it online, with a shared dashboard and a video check-in each month.
Audit and competitor gap
We review your backlink profile and compare it with the sites ranking above you, to see exactly what is missing.
Target pages and goals
We agree which pages should earn links, which keywords they serve, and how success will be measured.
Strategy and assets
We choose the mix of digital PR, outreach and linkable content, and plan any assets that need to exist first.
Prospecting
We build a vetted list of relevant sites and editors, checked against our quality standards.
Outreach and placement
Personalised outreach, follow-up and negotiation until links are live and verified.
Reporting and refinement
Monthly reporting on links earned, rankings and organic traffic. We double down on the tactics that move the pages that matter.
Areas we serve in Adelaide.
We work remotely with businesses throughout the greater metro, over video calls with shared reporting. In the city that means the CBD, the East End and Lot Fourteen, North Adelaide and the BioMed precinct on North Terrace, plus the inner suburbs of Norwood, Unley, Prospect and Hindmarsh.
Along the coast we support firms in Glenelg, Marion and Port Adelaide, and towards the north in Mawson Lakes, Salisbury, Parafield Gardens, Elizabeth and the fast-growing Munno Para and Angle Vale area. In the east and hills we work with operators in Modbury, Campbelltown, Stirling, Aldgate and Mount Barker, and to the south in Noarlunga, McLaren Vale and Aldinga.
Results from our link building work.
Published campaigns where earned links played a part. Each one is a different business and market, shared to show the method rather than to promise identical numbers.
“Their team understood our business before we even had to explain it. Enquiries are up 250% and the quality is better than ever.”

Questions about link building.
The common questions first, then the ones South Australian owners tend to ask. Contact us →
Do you work with Adelaide businesses?
Yes. We work with South Australian businesses remotely. Planning and monthly reviews happen over video calls, and a shared report lists every link, the page it supports and the ranking change that followed. Nobody needs to travel, and the work does not depend on being in the same room.
What is link building?
Link building is the process of earning links from other websites to your own. Search engines treat relevant links from trusted sites as a signal that a page is worth ranking, so a structured link building programme supports rankings for the pages you care about.
Why do backlinks matter for SEO?
Links help search engines find your pages and judge how trusted they are. Content and technical health get a page into contention, and links from relevant, trusted sites often decide who wins a competitive result. Link building works best alongside your SEO services, not instead of it.
How long does link building take to work?
Expect months rather than weeks. Links have to be earned, published, crawled and then weighed by search engines, and the pages they point to have to be strong enough to benefit. We report links earned each month so you can see progress before rankings move.
Is it safe to buy backlinks?
Google's spam policies list buying or selling links for ranking purposes as link spam. Links that involve payment should carry a rel sponsored or nofollow attribute, which means they do not pass ranking credit. We earn links through outreach, digital PR and content, and do not buy links to pass ranking credit.
What is a good backlink?
A good backlink comes from a relevant site with a real audience, is placed inside useful editorial content by a real editor, sits on a page Google has indexed, and uses natural anchor text. One link like that is worth more than dozens from irrelevant directories or networks.
How many backlinks do I need?
There is no fixed number. The right target comes from the sites currently ranking for your keywords: how many relevant sites link to them, and which of those are missing from your profile. We build that comparison in the first phase and set targets from it.
What is the difference between link building and digital PR?
Digital PR is one way of building links. It earns coverage and links from journalists and publications through stories, data and commentary. Link building is the wider discipline and also includes editorial outreach, linkable assets, unlinked mention recovery, partnerships and resource page placements.
Do links still matter for AI search?
Links still shape traditional rankings, and reputable third-party coverage is also the kind of source AI answer engines tend to draw on. We cannot guarantee that any AI tool will cite you. Our AI SEO work looks at how your brand appears in those answers, and link building supports it by strengthening the sites and pages that mention you.
Do you guarantee rankings or a number of links?
No. Nobody controls how search engines rank pages, and a guaranteed number of links usually means links are being bought or manufactured. We commit to the process, the quality standards and the reporting, and we show the effect on rankings, traffic and enquiries.
How do you choose which pages to build links to?
We prioritise the pages closest to revenue or leads, such as service pages, product categories and high-intent content, and we look at where a modest amount of extra authority is enough to move a page onto page one. A few links go to the homepage and to linkable assets to keep the profile natural.
What if my site already has bad or paid links?
We start by auditing your existing profile and check for paid schemes, networks and irrelevant links. Most low-quality links can simply be ignored by Google. If there are signs of a paid link scheme or a penalty risk, we will recommend removal or disavow, and can pair the review with a full SEO audit.
How will I know it is working?
Each month you receive a report showing the links earned, the sites and pages they came from, where they point, and the movement in rankings, organic traffic and enquiries for the target pages. We tie the results to business outcomes rather than to a count of links.
Is link building worth it in a less crowded market?
Often more so. With far fewer competitors than the eastern capitals, a modest number of relevant links can move a suburb or niche page onto page one faster. The city-wide terms are still contested by national brands, so we usually win the narrower terms first and build towards the broader ones.
Can you time digital PR around the festival season?
Yes. The Tour Down Under in January drew 807,900 fans in 2025, and Mad March brings the Fringe, so hospitality, venue and accommodation stories need to be pitched weeks earlier. We plan campaigns so links are already live when editors publish their guides and searches peak.
