#1 Link Building Agency in Sydney
Sydney link building for brands fighting in the hardest search market in Australia. Finance, media and professional services firms here face deep-pocketed competitors, so we earn the high-authority placements that make the difference at the top of the Sydney results.
Real Mojo Dojo clients, on the record.
Earning links in the country’s most crowded search market.
Here, the site you are trying to beat often belongs to a bank, a national law firm or a listed property group. Finance and insurance is the largest sector in the City of Sydney by output, at about $44 billion a year, and professional services adds roughly $28 billion more. Those firms have spent years collecting coverage in business media, and on high-value terms their backlink profiles set the bar for everybody else.
Beneath them sits a vast field of small operators: 594,855 small businesses across the greater metro in 2023, with 74,583 in the inner city alone. Very few of them run deliberate outreach, so a business that earns relevant links steadily can separate itself from its direct peers even while the national names keep the broadest terms.
The metro is also several markets at once. Parramatta, Macquarie Park, North Sydney and the fast-growing north-west and south-west each behave like separate cities in search, and 42% of households use a language other than English at home. So a campaign here rarely aims at one audience. It mixes business press for the head terms with regional news, precinct associations and in-language publications for Mandarin, Arabic, Cantonese, Vietnamese and Hindi speaking customers.
Link building is one component of our SEO services. We work out which pages should rank, why competitors currently win, and how to earn editorial links to close that gap through outreach, digital PR and content editors want to cite. We never sell links from a rate card.
Industries we help in Sydney.
Where authority decides who wins, sector by sector, and the kind of links we go after for each.
Banking, finance and insurance
A regulated category where Google looks hard at trust. We pitch data-led commentary and research to finance titles, keeping anchors natural and claims compliant.
Technology and digital
Computer system design was the second-largest industry of employment for residents in 2021. SaaS and IT firms around Tech Central earn links through original data, integrations pages and founder commentary.
Health and hospitals
Hospitals were the largest single employer of residents at the last Census. Clinics and specialists earn links from health associations, referral partners and patient resources, never paid health directories.
International education
NSW hosts 39% of Australia’s international students. Colleges and student-facing services earn links from student guides, community associations and in-language media around the February and July intakes.
Hospitality and events
Venues and restaurants time digital PR for Mardi Gras in February and Vivid in late May, when editors build roundups and what’s-on lists.
Ecommerce and retail
Postcodes 2000 and 2015 were among the heaviest online shopping locations per person in 2024. Online stores earn links from gift guides, product roundups and niche review sites.

The scale of the Sydney search market.
Four sourced figures that show how much competition sits behind every commercial keyword.
Our standards for every link.
Not all links help. We check every prospect against the same standards before we pitch it:
- Relevance. The site and the linking page cover a topic close to yours.
- Real audience. The site has genuine readers and visible organic traffic, not just a metric score.
- Editorial placement. The link sits inside useful content and was placed because an editor chose to.
- Indexed and crawlable. The page is in Google's index and the link is a standard link Google can follow.
- Clean neighbourhood. The site does not sell links openly or link out to spam.
- Natural anchor text. Descriptive and varied, never packed with keywords.
Third-party authority scores can help us sort prospects, but we treat them as a filter, not a target. A relevant link on a site your customers read beats a high score on a site nobody visits.
How we earn links.
Six methods, weighted for each brief. A Barangaroo fintech needs business press, a Parramatta dentist needs community and health links.
Digital PR
Data-led stories, expert commentary and campaigns pitched to journalists and editors, earning coverage and links from publications your customers read.
Editorial outreach
Personalised outreach to site owners and editors whose readers would genuinely benefit from your page, with a clear reason to link.
Linkable assets
Research, tools, guides and original data that other sites cite because there is nothing better to point to.
Unlinked mentions and broken links
We find sites that already mention your brand without linking, and dead links that your content can replace, then ask for the link.
Partnerships and industry bodies
Suppliers, associations, sponsors and events that publish member or partner pages, earned through real relationships.
Guest contributions with editorial standards
Expert articles on relevant publications where the link is earned by the quality of the piece, not by a payment.

Everything a campaign includes.
Each engagement is scoped to your site, your competitors and the regions of the metro you sell into. Here are the components.
Backlink profile audit. Where your links come from, which are helping, and which carry risk.
Competitor link gap analysis. The sites linking to the pages that outrank you and not to yours.
Target page selection. We prioritise the pages that carry revenue or leads, not just the homepage.
Prospect research. Hand-built lists of relevant sites, checked for traffic, topic fit and real editors.
Linkable asset planning. Ideas for content and data that give sites a reason to link.
Digital PR campaigns. Story angles, media lists and pitching for coverage on relevant publications.
Personalised outreach. Individually written emails and follow-ups, never mass templates.
Anchor text planning. Natural, varied anchors that describe the page instead of stuffing keywords.
Internal linking review. Passing the authority you earn to the pages that need it, working with SEO services.
Link quality checks. Every link reviewed for indexation, placement, attributes and neighbourhood.
Monthly reporting. Links earned, where they point, and the movement in rankings and organic traffic.
Clean-up recommendations. Advice on harmful links, disavow decisions and old paid link schemes.

We choose the mix of digital PR, outreach and linkable content, and plan any assets that need to exist first.
Prospecting
We build a vetted list of relevant sites and editors, checked against our quality standards.
Outreach and placement
Personalised outreach, follow-up and negotiation until links are live and verified.
Reporting and refinement
Monthly reporting on links earned, rankings and organic traffic. We double down on the tactics that move the pages that matter.
Links we will not build.
Google's spam policies define link spam as creating links to or from a site primarily to manipulate search rankings. Its examples include buying or selling links for ranking purposes, excessive link exchanges, links made by automated programs, and large-scale guest posting with optimised anchor text. Those tactics can cost a site its rankings, and the damage is slow and expensive to reverse.
We do not use private blog networks, automated link tools, paid links that pass ranking credit, or link exchange schemes. Where a placement involves payment or sponsorship, it is marked with the appropriate rel attribute. If a site already carries links like these, we will tell you plainly and recommend how to deal with them.
This is the trade we make in your favour: fewer links, each one earned and defensible.

What is link building?
Link building is the process of earning links from other websites to your own. Search engines treat relevant links from trusted sites as a signal that a page is worth ranking, so a structured link building programme supports rankings for the pages you care about.
Do you work with Sydney businesses?
Yes. We work with businesses across the metro remotely. Strategy and review sessions run over video calls, and a shared report tracks every earned link, its target page and the effect on rankings. Nothing about the service depends on meeting in person.
Why do backlinks matter for SEO?
Links help search engines find your pages and judge how trusted they are. Content and technical health get a page into contention, and links from relevant, trusted sites often decide who wins a competitive result. Link building works best alongside your SEO services, not instead of it.
How long does link building take to work?
Expect months rather than weeks. Links have to be earned, published, crawled and then weighed by search engines, and the pages they point to have to be strong enough to benefit. We report links earned each month so you can see progress before rankings move.
Is it safe to buy backlinks?
Google's spam policies list buying or selling links for ranking purposes as link spam. Links that involve payment should carry a rel sponsored or nofollow attribute, which means they do not pass ranking credit. We earn links through outreach, digital PR and content, and do not buy links to pass ranking credit.
What is a good backlink?
A good backlink comes from a relevant site with a real audience, is placed inside useful editorial content by a real editor, sits on a page Google has indexed, and uses natural anchor text. One link like that is worth more than dozens from irrelevant directories or networks.
How many backlinks do I need?
There is no fixed number. The right target comes from the sites currently ranking for your keywords: how many relevant sites link to them, and which of those are missing from your profile. We build that comparison in the first phase and set targets from it.
What is the difference between link building and digital PR?
Digital PR is one way of building links. It earns coverage and links from journalists and publications through stories, data and commentary. Link building is the wider discipline and also includes editorial outreach, linkable assets, unlinked mention recovery, partnerships and resource page placements.
Do links still matter for AI search?
Links still shape traditional rankings, and reputable third-party coverage is also the kind of source AI answer engines tend to draw on. We cannot guarantee that any AI tool will cite you. Our AI SEO work looks at how your brand appears in those answers, and link building supports it by strengthening the sites and pages that mention you.
Do you guarantee rankings or a number of links?
No. Nobody controls how search engines rank pages, and a guaranteed number of links usually means links are being bought or manufactured. We commit to the process, the quality standards and the reporting, and we show the effect on rankings, traffic and enquiries.
How do you choose which pages to build links to?
We prioritise the pages closest to revenue or leads, such as service pages, product categories and high-intent content, and we look at where a modest amount of extra authority is enough to move a page onto page one. A few links go to the homepage and to linkable assets to keep the profile natural.
What if my site already has bad or paid links?
We start by auditing your existing profile and check for paid schemes, networks and irrelevant links. Most low-quality links can simply be ignored by Google. If there are signs of a paid link scheme or a penalty risk, we will recommend removal or disavow, and can pair the review with a full SEO audit.
How will I know it is working?
Each month you receive a report showing the links earned, the sites and pages they came from, where they point, and the movement in rankings, organic traffic and enquiries for the target pages. We tie the results to business outcomes rather than to a count of links.
Can a small business out-rank national brands here?
On the broadest terms, rarely at first. On suburb, niche and service-specific terms, often. We aim early links at pages where the authority gap is smallest, then build towards the head terms as the profile grows.
Do you earn links from in-language publications?
Where it suits your customers, yes. More than four in ten households speak another language at home, and Mandarin, Arabic, Cantonese, Vietnamese and Hindi media are pitched far less often than English-language press.
