Search Console data delayed for 64+ hours
Google Search Console's performance report fell more than 64 hours behind on Sunday, then caught up on Monday. If your search numbers looked flat or missing after Google's latest spam update, rule out the reporting delay before you blame your site or your agency.
Barry Schwartz reported the delay at Search Engine Roundtable on Sunday 11 October, US time, when his own report was running more than 64 hours late. The performance report normally updates within a few hours, and he said it had been lagging for several days, straight after the spam update.
By late morning US time the backlog had shrunk to 44 hours. On Monday 12 October Schwartz added that the report looked back to normal. Google had not commented on the delay as of his article.
Why this delay is different
Search Console runs late fairly often, but the delays usually hit the page indexing report. The performance report, the one that shows how your pages perform in Google search, is rarely affected. The last comparable delay was in December 2025, and Schwartz says it took Google a while to confirm there was a problem that time.
The timing is awkward. Third-party tracking tools have struggled to scrape Google data over the past few weeks, so for many businesses Search Console was the only clean read on the spam update. Some took the delay as a sign a core update is imminent. Schwartz doubts that, though he expects one soon.
What to do this week
Do not judge the spam update, or the people running your SEO, from a report that was not updating. The missing days now appear to have filled in, so re-check before you change anything.
Compare the same days of the week before and after the update, now the data has caught up.
If your agency sent a report covering that window, ask for it to be re-run.
If a page still looks down after the catch-up, screenshot it with the date range. That is the evidence you will need if the drop is real.
Treat the next week of data as the first honest read on the spam update, and if you want a second pair of eyes on it, the Mojo Dojo team is happy to look.
